West Penn Hospital - Birthing with an Epidural

Highlights:

This 2-1/2 hour session provides women and their partners with updated, accurate information about what to expect when an epidural is given.

Attendees will learn what to expect during the labor and birth process and discover answers to many important questions, including how to tell true from false labor, when to come to the hospital, what an epidural is and what happens if it does not work. Attendees will also learn about the use of intravenous (IV) medications and fluids, monitors, induction, forceps, vacuum, and cesarean section, how the baby will look and routine nursery procedures. 

This class should be taken in the second trimester of pregnancy.

Class fee is $30 per couple.

Class size is limited, so please register early.

Refund Policy: Refunds are granted in case of premature delivery or medical complications. West Penn Hospital must receive a letter from your physician explaining the reason for the refund. Refunds are pro-rated to reimburse only those classes not attended. A refund for nonmedical reasons must be requested at least 3 weeks prior to the beginning of the class.
